From Kuusamo. To gravel roads.

Korpi Gravel is a small local tour operator based in the forest roads of Ruka and Kuusamo.

Our Story

Why wilderness?

Korpi Gravel was born out of a desire to experience the Nordic nature firsthand and in complete tranquility. The best experiences are found when you turn away from the most familiar routes and let forest roads carry you away – through majestic fell landscapes, along flowing rivers, and to the shores of peaceful ponds.

I have cycled these routes for years on my own, until I realized that these experiences should be shared with others.

Now I guide small groups to my most familiar favorite trails. Every shared riding day is designed so that you can truly feel the forest – not just see it!

"We don't just arrange tours. We share places we care about."

Visa Pekonen

I’m Visa Pekonen, and cycling has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Over the years, it has transformed from a hobby into a way of seeing the world – and above all, a way of reconnecting with nature.

The Ruka–Kuusamo region is special to me. Here, rugged beauty, vast wildernesses, and rare silence converge. I know these routes, but most importantly, I know what it feels like to move through them.

I want to offer tours that don't just focus on kilometers or performance, but on the experience: a good rhythm, the scenery, and the idea that everyone can enjoy riding in their own way.

What does "Korpi" mean?

The direct English equivalent of the word "korpi" is wilderness – a remote, forested wildland far from human settlement. These wild areas are Korpi Gravel's home turf.
